New Water Main Tie-In on Hayward Road

Updated: 6/25/2014 3:00pm

All services have been restored however discolored water is still being experienced by customers in the general vicinity of Hayward road and Main Street.  We expect the discolored water to settle out over night.  We apologize for this necessary activity and Thank you for your patience.

On Wednesday, June 25th, Onyx Corporation of Acton will be making the connection of the newly installed 8”water main pipe on Hayward Road to the existing 10” water main pipe on Main Street.  Beginning at 9 AM, this will require a shutdown of the water main on Main Street, the duration of which is unknown at this time; best case scenario, a 3-5 hour shutdown will be necessary to complete the work.  This service outage will impact about six customers in the vicinity of Main Street north of the Route 2 overpass.

Discolored water may be experienced due to flow changes in areas surrounding Main Street during the shutdown and for a temporary period afterward.

During this period, traffic will be impacted and motorists are urged to find alternate routes around this area, if necessary.  However, at least one lane of traffic will be open at all times.  We thoroughly appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these necessary improvements to the water distribution system.

 Thank you

Chris Allen
